We are pleased to announce that the »INDY-Energy Independent and Energy Efficient Military Camps« Executive Summary is now available upon request. This publicly available part of the project results has been prepared by a community of leading researchers and experts directly involved in implementing the EDF-2021- INDY Project. It provides a clear and comprehensive overview of the project's main findings and achievements to advance energy efficiency in future military camp operations.
To address fundamental challenges in the defence sector, the INDY project conducted extensive end-user consultations over its 26-month duration, defining operational requirements and developing scenarios for four types of military camps suited to different climate zones. These scenarios provided a roadmap for the evolution of energy systems in 2030 and 2050, ensuring that future military infrastructures align with emerging security and sustainability challenges.
What does the INDY Executive Summary include?
The summary highlights the project’s key findings and recommendations, including:
- Functional requirements for energy-efficient military camps by 2030 and 2050.
- Four in-depth case studies covering different camp sizes and climatic conditions.
- Technical, economic, and tactical evaluations of emerging energy technologies, including hydrogen.
- Results of de-risking tests for critical technologies.
- Energy architecture proposals for various types of camps.
- Strategic roadmaps for adopting advanced energy systems by 2030 and 2050.
